We live in chaotic times.  This is nothing new for there has been chaos in the world since the beginning.  Perhaps the difference today is the speed with which we communicate.  Unlike in the past, today we have email, texting, social media, and the internet.  People used to have to wait until receiving the newspaper or the 6 o’clock news to find out what happened in the news.  Today we receive the current headlines instantly on our smart phone.

Chaotic times have always produced fear, worry, and stress today is no different.  We are not comfortable living with fear worry and stress so it is only natural for us to seek answers in order to relieve ourselves of stress.  So where do we turn for these answers?

  • Some turn to drugs or alcohol.  These produce a temporary high and help us escape our troubles.  However, when the drugs and alcohol wear off, the troubles still remain and may have even gotten worse.
  • Some escape by partying, sex, or pornography only to discover that these only produce a temporary escape and when the euphoria wears off, the troubles remain and may be worse.
  • Some even turn to government, philosophy, or religion believing that some government program or religious mantra will bring the answer only to discover that flawed individuals run government and organized religion that are either incompetent or seeking to rip them off.

So where do we turn when facing troubles in our lives?  Jesus said in John 14:6 that He was the way, the truth, and the life.  Jesus has helped me get through some traumatic times in my life.  He helped me get through the loss of my 10-year old son.  He has helped me when both my wife and I were unemployed and did not know how we would pay our bills.  He helped both my wife and I deal with the loss of our parents.  In all of these times, I was able to pray to Jesus and he provided the people to support me and help me get through the grief of loss.  He provided a job paying what I needed just in time.  Because of my relationship with Jesus Christ, I know that whatever happens in these chaotic times, He will see me through.

I am not talking about just a religion here for Christianity is a religion, I am talking about a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  Most of us are familiar with John 3:16, which says.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  (NKJV)

Romans 3:23 tells us, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”  (NKJV)

Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”  (NKJV)

However, before we become depressed believing there is no hope, Romans 10:9-10 tells us what we need to do to enter into a relationship with Jesus Christ.  “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” (NKJV)

Jesus, not drugs, alcohol, partying, sex, pornography, government, philosophy, or even religion can provide the answers we need in these chaotic times.  It is only entering into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the Son of God that we can find answers in these chaotic times.  If you are seriously looking for answers in these chaotic times, I invite you to pray this prayer,

Dear Lord Jesus, I know I have sinned and that the wages of my sin is death.  I confess my sins to you now and confess that I believe in you.  I believe you came and died for me, that you were buried in the tomb for three days, and that you rose from the grave.  I make you Lord of my life and ask you to help me through these chaotic times.

You now have eternal life and a personal relationship with God your creator.  The world is still chaotic but you no longer need to have fear or worry for you have eternity with God to look forward to and access to the power of the God that created this world.  Jesus healed the sick, opened blind eyes, provided comfort to others, and even fed 5000.  He has the power to help you through your problems and will bring people and resources into your life to help you through your problems.

I encourage you to use the church locator and find a church that teaches the Bible.  This will connect you with other believers as well as helping you learn more about God by learning about the Bible.  If you do not have a Bible, I have provided a link to a digital Bible you can read on your computer, smart phone, or tablet.  I have also provided a link to an affordable print Bible you can purchase.  I have also provided links to some recommend readings that have helped me and I trust will help you.

Congratulations on your decision and I pray God will help you through these chaotic times.
